Public urged to solve Stourbridge fly-tipping case

MEMBERS of the public are being asked to help solve a case of fly-tipping that happened near Stourbridge and which could cost hundreds of pounds to clean-up.

Builders’ waste including tiles and plasterboard and an old sink was found dumped on Sugar Loaf Lane, Iverley, on Thursday February 16 and a white decorators van was seen parked at the entrance to an old quarry at about 4pm that day.

Whoever was responsible, however, may have unwittingly left behind a clue that could help solve the environmental crime.

A series of birthday cards found at the scene, which appear to mark someone’s 30th birthday, are addressed to a woman called Amanda, also known as Manda.

Bosses at South Staffordshire Council believe the crime was committed by a rogue trader who perhaps carried out renovation work on a bathroom or kitchen and decided to dump the left over waste.

Councillor Roger Lees, cabinet member for public protection services at South Staffordshire Council, said: “It’s likely to cost several hundred pounds to clean this mess up and all of that is coming out of the public purse.

“That’s why we want anyone with information to come forward so we can try and trace exactly where this has come from”.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the council on 01902 696200 or email environmentalcrimesr@sstaffs.gov.uk
